I'll state: I'm an atheist, but this disgusts me. This, to me, would be similar to walking into a church and pissing on the altar. While there is ONE church I'd do something similar (piss on the pastor, not altar) the westboro baptist church, the only reason these people are doing it is because they can't take away the rosaries.

Uh huh...suuuuuuuure the cops saw gang members flashing rosaries as gang signs, just the same way the police in Mesquite, Texas regularly claim that gangs use Stars of David in the same way. Between stories like these and the number of hillbilly cops in podunk areas who get on CNN with "chupacabra" videos that obviously show mangy dogs, I say "show us some goddamn proof, and quit bearing false witness." And if the cops (probably akin to the inbreed who tried to claim that US high school students were snorting "jenkem" to get high) try to deflect blame by sneering "You callin' me a liar?", the only response is "YES."

heh, well, was linked to me by an old friend of mine, commenting her brother's friends (who she knew were game members) had started buying rosaries.

You know, it doesn't bother me so much. Unless they've been blessed, they're just beads. And I'm willing to bet these kids aren't going out to have them blessed after they buy them.

I also tend to live in hope. Maybe one of these kids is one day going to look at the beads and say, "Hey, I wonder what these are really all about?"

So now gangs are flashing rosaries; a few years ago, girls were wearing them as jewellery.
